Come build something that matterspeople rely onyou're proud of

A small team of talented people taking on the giants of network security. Open source, built in Europe, used by thousands worldwide.

Making secure networking a right, not a privilege.

Getting machines to talk to each other, securely and privately, should be simple. For most of the internet's life it hasn't been: everything routed through a central gateway, ports left open, firewall rules nobody remembers writing, and a setup so painful that only teams with real budgets and in-house expertise could pull it off. Everyone else just learned to live with it.

We don't think it has to be that way. Connecting and securing your machines should be simple, and it should be based on who you are, not what IP you happen to have. Not a luxury, not a months-long project, just the default.

That's why we started NetBird. It's open source, it works the moment you install it, and it grows organically, not through big marketing spend, but because people try it in their homelabs, love it, and bring it to work, all the way up to companies like Hermes and Red Hat. We're going after an $80 billion market still running on closed, decades-old tech. We're early, and the hardest, most interesting problems are still ahead of us.

Building a private networking solution like NetBird is hard, and that's exactly why it's fun. The people who thrive here are genuinely into open source and infrastructure, and they want what's rare about this: the chance to build a new standard for how the world connects. They dig into how things actually work, own problems end to end instead of waiting for a ticket, and would always rather shape something new than keep something old running. If you've ever looked at how networking works today and figured you could do better, you'll fit right in.

If that sounds like you, come build it with us.

How we work

Our values

How we work together matters as much as what we ship, especially when the world runs on what we build. These are the principles we work by.

01

Question the status quo

NetBird exists because we refused to accept how networking had always been done: closed, complex, and expensive. Challenging the default is in our DNA, it's what got us here, and we bring that same instinct to every problem we touch.

02

Build in the open

Open source isn't a feature, it's how we work. Our code is public, our community is part of the process, and people run what we ship every day. That openness keeps us honest: bugs and decisions get questioned out in the open.

03

Own the outcome

Small team, real scope. You own problems end to end and see your work in production fast, not buried in process. No one hands you a perfectly scoped ticket; you find the problem and carry it through to running code.

04

Default to candor

Direct, kind, and specific. We'd rather have the hard conversation now than the worse one later. Best argument wins, not the loudest voice, and feedback stays about the work, never the person.

05

Stay close to the user

Engineers talk to users. Everyone does support sometimes. The product is everyone's job, not a department. When something breaks for someone running NetBird, that's everyone's problem.

06

It just has to work

“Will it scale?” “Does it need to?” Chasing imaginary internet-scale is how simple problems go unsolved. We build for the teams actually using NetBird, make it genuinely good first, and earn the right to scale, instead of over-engineering for a future that may never come.

07

Security is the promise

Networks around the world trust us to protect them. We earn that trust every single day, no shortcuts. Trust is slow to earn and gone in an instant, so reliability is the baseline, not a feature we add later.

Working here

Life at NetBird

We value doing things together: the hard problems and the wins, but also the dinners, the offsites, and everything in between.

In their words

What the team says

“I was running NetBird in my own homelab before I ever worked here, so joining wasn't a leap. I've built my whole career around open source, and NetBird is one of the few companies where that's the foundation, not a checkbox. It makes marketing simple too. When the product is this good, my job is mostly just showing people what it can do.”

“I joined NetBird because I wanted to work on something that actually matters. Something built the right way: secure, simple, open source, made in Europe, and giving people real control over their own networks. The mission clicked with me immediately, and after meeting the team, it felt like the right place to do my best work. The chance to help grow a fast-moving project from the inside made the decision easy.”

“The best part of this job is the people: a genuinely talented team that loves solving hard technical problems. Getting to work alongside them and help build the company around them is exactly what I came here for.”

“Beyond the day-to-day work, I get to bring in the ideas I find exciting and actually build them into the product. They don't sit in a backlog; they ship and get used by real people. NetBird is one of the few places where I can combine the two things I care about most, networking and deep coding, and that combination is genuinely rare.”

“Having worked with Misha and Maycon in the past, joining them was an easy decision: great people, an amazing vision, and a product I believed in from day one. What makes building NetBird special is seeing your own ideas shape the product and become something our customers rely on every day.”

“What drew me to NetBird was the chance to make a difference. Making the complex world of zero trust feel simple and intuitive is challenging and fun, and there's always more to learn. I love getting the small UI details right, because that's what the user actually feels. Best of all, the whole team cares about those details as much as I do.”
