We're wrapping up a remarkable 2025 with our final newsletter of the year! Two highly-requested roadmap items - native SSH client support and SCIM integration - are landing, alongside ongoing performance and usability polish across the NetBird ecosystem.
Whether you’ve been with us since the early releases or just joined recently, thank you for being part of the journey. Your feedback, GitHub issues, and ideas truly shape what we build next. Thank you for making 2025 NetBird's best year yet.
Native SSH Client Support
We've completely rewritten our SSH feature to introduce native OpenSSH client support (v0.60.0), allowing you to use standard , SFTP, and SCP commands directly from your terminal. Access is now identity-aware, requiring users to authenticate via your existing IdP (Okta, Azure AD, etc.) for a true Zero Trust experience. This change drastically simplifies user lifecycle management-onboarding and offboarding are automated through your IdP, instantly removing security vulnerabilities associated with manually tracking SSH keys.

Use Case Spotlight: Homelab Access via Raspberry Pi
We published a detailed guide on using a humble Raspberry Pi to provide secure, Zero Trust access to your entire homelab or private network from anywhere in the world. By configuring the Pi as a NetBird routing peer, you eliminate the need for complicated VPNs, exposed ports, and brittle port forwarding rules. This setup offers secure, granular access control to devices like your Proxmox server or NAS, all running on an affordable and energy-efficient device.

The AI Mega Mesh: Multi-Cloud GPU Connectivity
We demonstrated that connecting GPU resources across multiple cloud providers (30+ providers tested!) into one unified, secure network is simple. Whether you're running vLLM, Ollama, or training your own models, NetBird allows you to build a geographically distributed AI inference platform without opening ports or managing complex firewall rules.
