🎄 NetBird’s December Newsletter
As the year comes to a close, we’re excited to share what we’ve been working on at NetBird. This month, we’ve rolled out updates to our iOS and Android apps, launched a brand-new landing page, and introduced the Persist Route Selection feature to make things smoother and more reliable for you.
We’re also proud to announce our €4M Seed Round—a milestone that will help us grow, hire, and continue building a platform that makes secure networking accessible to everyone. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!

🔨 What we’ve been cooking since our last update
A fresh Landing Page!
We’ve launched our brand-new landing page to give you a cleaner, more intuitive overview of what NetBird is all about. Check it out and let us know what you think!

NetBird for iOS v0.0.8
- What it includes:
- Minor bugfixes for crashing apps
- Refactoring of the main Peer list to improve the performance of the UI
- Add an option to also copy the IP address of a peer (previously only FQND possible)
- Support for new relay
- Why you’ll love it: Enjoy a smoother UI, the ability to copy a peer’s IP address, and improved relay support that works in all network environments. These enhancements mean faster, more reliable connections between peers.

NetBird for Android v0.0.27
- What it includes:
- Fixed an issue where the login window would close when switching between Android apps
- Improved stability and performance
- Enabled changing servers without requiring VPN permissions
- Added support for the new relay
- Why you’ll love it: With this update, we’ve resolved a long-standing performance and stability issue that affected some device models, making the Android app faster than ever before. We’ve also added support for new relays, improving connectivity between peers in restrictive network environments. Additionally, we fixed an issue on the login page so that users who leave the app (to copy an MFA key or password) no longer have to restart the login process.
Persist route selection (#2810)
- What it does: Saves your route selection preferences across restarts of your NetBird client or computer, ensuring the configuration persists (except on iOS and Android).
- Why you’ll love it: No more reconfiguring overlapping route selections after a restart! This fix addresses issues like maintaining custom route preferences and ensures a seamless user experience for managing complex networks.
Account different policy rules for route firewall rules (#2939)
- What it does: Ensures that route firewall rules generation considers the source group peers defined in access control policies, applying rules specifically to these peers. Traffic from distribution group peers not belonging to any source group will be dropped.
- Why you’ll love it: This improvement resolves a flaw where multiple policies with different access levels were incorrectly applied to all distribution group peers, ensuring more precise and secure policy enforcement. Existing valid policies benefiting from this flaw may experience behavior changes.
🧡 Love From the Community
Shoutout to @kursataktas: Big thanks for introducing the NetBird Guru on Gurubase.io ! This AI-powered assistant uses data from NetBird’s repository and documentation to answer user questions effectively, making it easier for the community to find solutions and enhance workflows. The NetBird Guru is not just smart but incredibly practical! A user recently automated the installation of NetBird on Windows machines through an MDM system with the help of the Guru, streamlining updates and setup processes. Check out PR #2778 for details and try it out for yourself.
