Hello NetBird Community!
Welcome to our October newsletter. This month, we’ve focused on feature updates, performance improvements, and new content for our users. Here’s a quick look at what’s new:
NetBird Enhancements
Relay Feature Integration
We’ve moved from the TURN relay (coturn) to our own relay implementation based on WebSocket. This ensures that relayed connections use a single TCP port, improving performance and enabling faster peer-to-peer connections during the bootstrap process.
For more details, follow the discussion on Relay Integration #2566 or view the complete v0.29.0 release notes .
If you’re using an existing deployment, make sure to review our updated guide on integrating the new relay service. Full support for iOS, Android, and cloud environments is coming soon.
New Videos and Articles
Enhancing Network Access Control with NetBird's Identity Provider Feature
Managing network access is an increasing challenge for businesses, particularly with remote workforces and growing security demands. In our latest knowledge hub article, we explore how NetBird’s Identity Provider (IdP) feature streamlines access management. By integrating with leading providers like Microsoft, Google, and Okta, this feature helps automate user provisioning and enforce secure, zero-trust principles.
Discover how it can simplify your network security by reading the full article: Enhancing Network Access Control with NetBird's Identity Provider Feature .
New Video: Streamlining Network Setup with Relay Feature Integration
A new video from @AwesomeOpenSource provides an in-depth guide on adding the Relay feature to your NetBird setup. It walks you through the process from start to finish, showing how to optimize network performance and connection management.

New Features in Beta Testing
Smart Firewall
The new Smart Firewall feature is now available for beta testing. It allows you to create policies using natural language prompts, simplifying the process of access control management. You can request early access by navigating to Access Control > Policies > Smart Firewall.
This feature prioritizes data privacy by only sharing essential configuration data during prompt submission. Importantly, no data is shared unless you explicitly enable this feature. It’s currently available through our cloud platform.
🚀 That’s it for this month’s newsletter! Thanks for being a part of the NetBird community. Stay tuned for more updates!
Best regards,
Team NetBird
